Solution for "Logic Grids for Kids"
Four people (Bob, Jim, Ken, and Travis) are participating in a parade. They are each riding a different vehicle (on a float, in a golf cart, on a bike, or in a truck bed), and wearing a different costume (sheep, baseball uniform, clown, or bear). Match each person with the appropriate vehicle and costume.

- The four people could be referred to as the person wearing a clown costume, the person wearing the baseball uniform, the person riding in a truck bed, and Jim.
- Another way of referring to the four people is the following: Ken, the person wearing the clown costume, the person wearing the sheep costume, and the person riding the golf cart.
- The person dressed as a baseball player is riding on a float.
- When asked where he would be in the parade, Bob said he wasn’t sure, but he would either be on a float or riding a bike.
Solution:
First Clue: The four people could be referred to as the person wearing a clown costume, the person wearing the baseball uniform, the person riding in a truck bed, and Jim.
All this clue means is that each of the four people mentioned are unique. For instance, Jim is different from the person riding in a truck bed. He’s also different from the person wearing the clown costume, and he’s different from the person wearing a baseball uniform. The person with the clown costume is different from the person riding in the truck bed, and so on. From this clue, you should be able to place five X’s:

Second clue: Another way of referring to the four people is the following: Ken, the person wearing the clown costume, the person wearing the sheep costume, and the person riding the golf cart.
Okay, this is just like the first clue, so hopefully you understand what to do now. You should end up with five new X’s on your grid:

Third clue: The person dressed as a baseball player is riding on a float.
At last, a straightforward clue! Place ✔ at “on float” and “baseball uniform”, along with the corresponding X’s:
At last, a straightforward clue! Place ✔ at “on float” and “baseball uniform”, along with the corresponding X’s:
Fourth clue: When asked where he would be in the parade, Bob said he wasn’t sure, but he would either be on a float or riding a bike.
You can look at this clue as just a fancy way of saying that Bob would not be on the golf cart or the truck bed. Place X’s at “Bob” and “golf cart” and at “Bob” and “truck bed”.

Now that we have gleaned everything we can from the clues, let’s look at the grid itself. The bottom portion can be completed quite easily without any serious thinking. Just start by placing ✔ at “bear” and “golf cart” and proceed from there.
Okay, here’s where things get a little harder. There are a couple different ways we could proceed, but let’s just look at Ken’s line. Notice that Ken is not wearing the sheep costume or the clown costume. Well, looking at the bottom portion of the grid, we see that the sheep costume is worn on the truck bed, and the clown costume is worn on the bike. Therefore, we know that Ken is not on the truck bed or the bike. Place X’s at “Ken” and “truck bed” and at “Ken” and “bike”.
Aha!! Now the center portion can be completed. Start by placing ✔ at “Ken” and “on float”, and then proceed from there. Once you do that, the answers to the puzzle can be found.
